Engineering Team Lead

Full-Time in Auckland, NZ - Remote OK - Senior - Development

As an engineering team lead for Starshipit, you are a master of the craft of software engineering, and passionate at supporting your team to become masters as well. You are equally at home authoring code and overseeing the technical quality of the code of your team. Working alongside and with support of the business leadership you will help shape the product, technical and cultural direction of product engineering.


What success looks like:

• Master at your craft, considered a thought leader by your peers.

• Successfully mentor fellow engineers to enable technical growth.

• Support a culture of ownership, from project discovery to operation in production.

• Ship rapidly at a high quality and enable others to do the same.

• Can diagnose and resolve curly issues in your code and in the code of others.

• Seek out clarification and manage any necessary ambiguity elegantly.

• Actively manage stakeholders and tailor your communication to suit them.

• Level up the product by owning quality and architectural decision making as well as providing pragmatic feedback in PR and design reviews.

• Prepare and deliver technical training on emergent topics to the engineering team.

• Lead and coordinate multi team initiatives on code and product quality and security.


Required skill and experience:

• 5+ years building c#/dotnet web applications or apis.

• 5+ years working with large volume sql server queries.

• 5+ years cloud native experience (preferably azure).

• Experience mentoring a full stack software development team.

• Experience with CI/CD tools including github actions or Azure Devops

• Detailed knowledge of azure app services, azure api management or similar.

• Detailed knowledge of sql server and other database or state management systems.

• Detailed knowledge of redis, service bus or other caching and propagation systems.

Preferred skills and experience:

• Experience defining and executing multi year technical roadmaps.

• Experience leading, mentoring or managing full stack engineering teams
